A Peak Packing Experience

Once in a very great while, packing solutions to multiple destinations and weather situations bubble up as the suitcase rolls out of the closet.

My 8 day January trip encompassed buying in Dallas, a POP! DC location check, and a visit to Heyne Bogut in Gloucester, PA.  12 key pieces just about sufficed, making this an official Peak Packing Experience.  Being professionally sharp and chicly comfortable were the top goals, and the length of the trip required enough easy clothing for sprawling and working in hotel rooms.

The Peak Pack revolved around a simple, rich jacket - my MSP burgundy Aria. At hip length, it provides polish for travel days and appointments, and pairs well with jeans and serious trousers. For ease of wear and a distinguishing pop of color, the Aria delivers for years.

Worn together, the Judith & Charles Tribeca scuba half zip top and Lenox cropped flared trouser create an alternative suit, and each worn separately elevates other key pieces.  The Tribeca fits comfortably under the Aria too!

Two jeans, one black straight leg MAC and one slim classic wash from Cambio, completed the bottoms selection, and a print Beate Heymann tank, a Majestic navy metallic turtleneck and a black J'Envie sweater rounded out the tops.

A pair of sneakers and weatherproof boots took care of shoes, and a treasured Suprema lightweight shearling handled fair and foul weather easily.  Soft and featherweight, a Suzi Rohr scarf functioned as a personal blanket and talisman, and one pair of Sarah Graham earrings were daily wear.

8 Days:

  • 1 Jacket
  • 3 Trousers
  • 4 Tops
  • 2 Shoes
  • 1 Scarf
  • 1 Pair of Earrings.

What did I miss?  A casual outdoor jacket.  Having only a shearling felt formal for an exercise walk. By day 6, I wished for the variety of a second MSP jacket.
